December 2, 2025

The auto industry is America’s largest manufacturing sector and underpins our nation’s industrial base. The sector employs 11 million Americans in all 50 states and drives $1.5 trillion into the economy each year – over 5 percent of GDP. Auto companies are investing in an increasingly connected, automated and electrified vehicle fleet. But the industry also faces unprecedented geopolitical and economic pressures.

Navigating these challenges is especially acute for heavily regulated auto companies because of the industry’s multi-year design and manufacturing cycles and the significant capital expenditures necessary to bring any new vehicle to market.

Join us for a day where we bring together automotive manufacturers, innovators, policymakers and the financial community to examine the U.S. auto industry’s future, particularly questions at the intersection of technology, government policy and capital.

Vehicle Automation: Exploring Fundamentals, Policy Challenges, and Opportunities for Level 3 Vehicles

Level 3 autonomous driving systems have the potential to improve vehicle and roadway safety while enhancing the in-vehicle experience for drivers. Although vehicles equipped with level 3 capabilities are becoming increasingly prevalent, this technology is not widely understood by policymakers or consumers. Join us on Wednesday, November 19, at 2:30 PM in Washington, DC for a discussion on the state of level 3 autonomous technologies and the unique considerations for regulating level 3 vehicles. This event will explore the basics of level 3 vehicle technologies, novel equipment and design issues, opportunities for public education, and approaches for developing an appropriate regulatory framework. Registration is complimentary.
